Objective

The primary objective of the West Bengal Student Credit Card (WBSCC) scheme is to provide accessible, collateral-free loans to students pursuing higher education. By offering financial support of up to ₹10 lakh, the state government aims to alleviate the financial burden on families, reduce the unemployment rate, and ensure that no student in West Bengal is deprived of quality education due to a lack of funds.

Financial Guidelines & Margins

  • Margin Money:
    • Loans up to ₹4 lakh: No margin money required.
    • Loans above ₹4 lakh: 5% margin money required.
  • Expense Ceilings:
    • Living Expenses: Maximum 20% of the total loan (capped at ₹2 lakh for government institutions).
    • Non-Institutional Expenses: Maximum 30% of the total loan (capped at ₹3 lakh for government institutions).
  • Insurance: A life insurance policy covering the loan amount is issued in the student’s name, with the premium deducted from the loan account.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal.
  • The applicant must have been residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years.
  • The upper age limit to apply for the scheme is 40 years.

How to Apply Online

Registration

  1. Visit the official portal: https://wbscc.wb.gov.in
  2. Click on the ‘Student Registration’ tab.
  3. Fill in the registration form with your Name, Date of Birth, Contact Information, Educational Details, and [Aadhaar Redacted].
  4. Submit the form to generate a Unique ID.
  5. The Unique ID will be sent to your registered mobile number via SMS for future tracking.
  1. Loan Application
  • Use your credentials to log in to the student portal using your Unique ID.
  • Complete the loan application form by uploading the required documents listed above.
  • Once submitted, your application will be verified by the concerned authorities.

Student Login & Complete the Loan Application

Step-by-Step: Login & Fill Application Form

  • Visit the Official Website
    https://wbscc.wb.gov.in

  • Click on ‘Student Login’
    Select the Student Login option from the homepage.

  • Enter Credentials

    • Application ID

    • Password

    • Captcha Code
      Then click on Login.

  • Access the Dashboard
    After logging in, your Applicant Dashboard will be displayed.

  • Click on ‘Application Detail’
    Then, click on Edit Loan Application to start filling out the full form.

Fill the Application Form

Fill in the following details carefully:

  • Personal Details

  • Co-Borrower Details (Parent/Guardian)

  • Present & Permanent Address

  • Course and Income Details

  • Bank Details of the Student

  • Click Save and Continue.

Upload Required Documents

Make sure you have clear, scanned copies of the following documents:

  • Recent passport-size photograph of the student

  • Recent photograph of co-applicant (Parent/Guardian)

  • Signature of the student as per specification

  • Signature of the co-borrower/legal guardian

  • Address proof of co-borrower

  • Aadhar Card of the student

  • PAN Card of the student or an undertaking

  • PAN Card of the co-borrower or an undertaking

  • Admission receipt from the educational institution

  • Class 10th Board Registration Certificate

  • Click Save and Continue.

Submit the Application

  • A new page will appear – review all your details.

  • Click on Submit Application.

  • A confirmation dialog box will appear.

  • Click Yes to confirm.

  • Your application is now submitted successfully!
