Support to Students for Participating in Competitions Abroad The Support to Students for Participating in Competitions Abroad (SSPCA) scheme is a premier travel grant initiative by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It aims to foster a culture of research, innovation, and global competitiveness by providing financial assistance to students participating in international scientific or technical competitions.
Key Highlights
- Financial Assistance: Reimbursement of up to βΉ2 Lakh per student.
- Target Group: Students enrolled in AICTE-approved Diploma, B.E./B.Tech, Integrated M.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, MBA, MCA, and Hotel Management programs.
- Objective: To encourage global exposure, technical excellence, and the representation of Indian students on international platforms.

Eligibility Criteria
- Team Composition: Individual students or teams of 2 to 6 students are eligible to apply.
- Academic Standing: Must be currently enrolled in an AICTE-approved technical institution.
- Merit Requirement: The team must have participated in and achieved top honors in a national-level event.
- Event Constraints: The competition must be international in scope, and its duration must not exceed 10 days.
- One-Time Limit: Each student is eligible for financial support under this scheme only once during their entire course of study.
Financial Support Details
The scheme provides assistance on a reimbursement basis up to a maximum of βΉ2 Lakh per student, covering the following:
- International Travel: To and fro economy class airfare.
- Domestic Travel: Actual fare (not exceeding AC III Class train fare) from the institution to the nearest airport.
- Registration & Fees: Actual registration fees (up to βΉ50,000) and visa application charges.
- Other Expenses: Lodging & boarding, airport taxes, travel health insurance, and costs incurred for transporting competition-related equipment.
Application & Documentation
- Timeline: Proposals must be submitted at least three months prior to the commencement of the international event.
- Submission Portal: Official applications and guidelines are available at: https://sspca.aicte.gov.in/
- Post-Event Requirements: Within one month of the competition’s conclusion, participants must submit a technical report, an audited utilization certificate, and a detailed statement of expenditure through the Head of the Institution.
