Saksham Scholarship Scheme (2026-27)

For Specially Abled Students (AICTE & Ministry of Education) The Saksham Scholarship Scheme is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Education, implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It is designed to provide inclusive learning opportunities by offering financial support to specially-abled students pursuing technical education.

Key Updates & Features (2026-27 Cycle)

  • Annual Scholarship Amount: Eligible students receive a fixed lump sum of ₹50,000 per annum.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: This amount is intended to cover various academic expenses, including:
    • College tuition fees
    • Purchase of laptops/computers
    • Books, stationery, and software
    • Educational equipment and assistive tools
  • No Fixed Quota: There is no longer a restricted number of scholarships; all applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and pass the verification process can receive the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Admission: Must be admitted to the 1st year of a Degree/Diploma program OR the 2nd year through Lateral Entry at an AICTE-approved institution.
  • Disability Status: Must have a certified disability of at least 40%. A valid disability certificate issued by a competent government authority is mandatory.
  • Family Income: The annual family income must not exceed ₹8 Lakh in the current financial year. (For married girls, the higher income between parents and in-laws is considered).
  • Exclusivity: The student must not be receiving any other central/state government scholarship.

Application Process (Mandatory Steps)

All applications must be submitted via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

  1. OTR (One Time Registration): Applicants must complete the OTR process on the NSP Portal before applying for the scheme.
  2. Submission: Log in to the NSP portal, search for the AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme, and submit your application with all required documents.
  3. Verification: Your application will be verified at two levels: first by your institution, and then by the designated state/central authority.
  4. Disbursement: Funds are transferred directly to the student’s Aadhaar-seeded bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

  • Application Window: Now Open.
  • Last Date: October 31, 2026.

Required Documents

  • Disability Certificate: Issued by a competent State/UT authority.
  • Income Certificate: Issued by a competent State/UT authority (for the current financial year).
  • Academic Records: Class 10th and 12th mark sheets; proof of admission to a technical degree/diploma program.
  • Bank Details: Copy of a bank passbook (showing Name, Photograph, and IFSC code) linked with your Aadhaar number.
