AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme (2026-27)

Empowering Girl Students in Technical Education

The Pragati Scholarship Scheme is a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Education, implemented by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). It aims to provide financial support to meritorious girl students pursuing technical education at the Degree or Diploma level in AICTE-approved institutions.

Key Highlights (2026-27 Update)

  • Financial Assistance: Eligible students receive a fixed annual grant of β‚Ή50,000.
  • Coverage: The grant is provided as a lump sum to cover tuition fees, purchase of laptops/computers, books, software, and other educational equipment.
  • Duration: The scholarship is provided for the entire duration of the course (maximum 4 years for Degree; maximum 3 years for Diploma).
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): The amount is transferred directly to the student’s bank account via DBT.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Gender: Open to female Indian nationals only.
  • Academic Enrollment: Must be admitted to the 1st year of a technical degree or diploma program in an AICTE-approved institution OR the 2nd year through Lateral Entry.
  • Family Income: The annual family income from all sources must not exceed β‚Ή8 Lakh.
  • Family Limit: A maximum of two girl children per family can avail of this scholarship.
  • Exclusivity: The student must not be receiving any other central or state government scholarship for the same purpose.

Application Process

All applications must be submitted online via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

  1. OTR (One Time Registration): Candidates must complete the mandatory OTR process on the NSP Portal before applying.
  2. Aadhaar Integration: You must have an Aadhaar-seeded bank account (KYC-compliant) to ensure the scholarship funds are credited successfully.
  3. Submission: Log in to the NSP, search for “AICTE Pragati Scholarship for Girls,” and upload all required documents.
  4. Verification: Your application will be verified by your institution and subsequently by the State/UT Directorate of Technical Education (DTE).

Important Dates:

  • Application Deadline: October 31, 2026 (Tentative).
  • Institute Verification Deadline: November 15, 2026.
Important Guidelines
  • Leaving the course mid-way? You must refund the entire amount of scholarship received.

  • Misconduct (e.g., ragging, misbehavior) will lead to immediate discontinuation of the scholarship.

  • Leave entitlement:

    • Casual Leave: 15 days/year

    • Medical Leave: Max 30 days/year

    • Maternity Leave: As per Govt. of India norms

Required Documents
  • Identity: Aadhaar Card.
  • Academic: 10th & 12th standard mark sheets; admission letter for the 1st year (or lateral entry) of a technical program.
  • Financial: Income certificate issued by a competent State/UT Government authority (for the preceding financial year).
  • Institutional: Bonafide certificate and tuition fee receipt.
  • Other: Caste certificate (if applicable), bank passbook copy (showing IFSC/Account number), and a signed parent declaration form.
