Aryans Institute of Nursing jointly organized a seminar
Aryans College of Law and Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, near Chandigarh, jointly organized a seminar on “Medical Negligence and the Legal System in India” at the college campus. The session featured distinguished speakers including Dr. (Prof.) Paramjit Singh, renowned faculty member of the Punjab School of Law, Punjabi University, and Dr. Charan Kamal from Rajendra Hospital.
The seminar was attended by students from various academic backgrounds including LL.B, B.A, B.Com, GNM, and ANM. Dr. Hansraj Arora, Principal of Aryans College of Law, and Vice Principal Sh. S.P. Verma also graced the event.
Dr. (Prof.) Paramjit Singh discussed the complexities of defining negligence in the medical field, highlighting that negligence refers to the failure to provide the standard of care expected from a competent professional. He emphasized that when multiple acceptable standards exist, adherence to any one of them cannot be deemed negligent.
Dr. Charan Kamal educated students on various types of negligence—such as doctor negligence, patient negligence, contributory negligence, composite negligence, corporate negligence, and concurrent negligence. He clarified that doctors are not always solely responsible, and in certain cases, negligence occurs at the conclusion of the patient’s treatment.
