
A Webinar on “Importance of Agriculture for Upliftment of Rural Society” organised at Aryans
A webinar on “Role of Agriculture Extension for upliftment of Rural Society” was organised by Department of Agriculture, Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura Near Chandigarh. Dr. Rushikesh, Scientist, Agriculture Extension Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) addressed Aryans Agriculture students including B.Sc. Hons. & Diploma Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the Webinar.
Dr. Rushikesh while interacting with students said that Extension programs in rural communities play a critical role in linking farmers and other actors in rural developmental agenda. The relevance of these programs in agriculture is largely dependent on their ability to meet farmers’ needs since they are the stakeholders at the grassroots.
While answering students questions he said that the rural extension programs can provide a sustainable solution to poverty. The appropriate approaches should be chosen taking into account the needs of the farmers and market dynamics of a particular area, explained Rushikesh.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group said that the extension education aims at changing the outlook of the farming community to improve the farm operations on farmer’s initiative. Educating farmers by extension education is sustained process to keep pace with rapidly changing agricultural technology.
Prof. B.S. Sidhu, Director Aryans Group while interacting said that agriculture extension is one of the interventions which have a potential in improving the standard of living of rural peoples. We can aware the rural people with the latest technologies for improving crop productivity as well as the standard of living of rural people.

Aryans students turn saviours for various species of birds
To create awareness about conserving birds, Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura Near Chandigarh placed bird houses at its 20 acre lush green campus. Around 50 bird’s nests provided by Dr. Pirthipal Singh Trust, Ludhiana were placed on the canopies of the trees inside the campus. Renowned Radiologist & Environmentalist by passion Dr. Baljeet Kaur graced the occasion. In view of covid guidelines, few Aryans students from Law, Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing, Agriculture, Management participated in this noble cause.
Dr. Anshu Kataria Chairman Aryans Group while speaking on the occasion said that in the face of rapid urbanization, wildlife is losing its place in the race of survival. We also felt that it’s our responsibility to safeguard the winged friends who are losing their natural habitat due to deforestation & faced a shocking decline in numbers.
Ms. Sneha Bhardwaj, HoD, Department of Agriculture said that Punjab is reeling under an unprecedented heat wave & Water scarcity seems unprecedented as most of the surface water bodies are drying up. “While cattle and pets are fed at least once a day by their owners, wild animals and birds are on their own, which is why we thought we should do something about it, added Sneha.
Ms Anchal Jariyal , Faculty, Aryans College of law said that We are encouraging students, friends and acquaintances to hang bird feeders in front of their house and nearby trees. Feeding the birds & animals has been greatly satisfying, she added.

Considering the manifold benefits of trees and the conducive season, Department of Agriculture, Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura Near Chandigarh organized a tree plantation drive in Aryans Campus. Dr. Baljeet Kaur, Radiologist by Profession & environment lover by passion graced this occasion. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.
Kaur while interacting said that in the blind race of development, we forget the mantra of Indian culture that nature is our mother and it cannot be exploited by excessive use of pesticides. Indian culture has accepted the importance of trees and encouraged it. Plantation of Malabar Neem trees to control pollution would be a game changer as observed in other states, she stressed.
Kataria while speaking on the occasion said that in the face of rapid urbanization, we are exploiting our natural resources. We all should actively participate in tree plantation drives to make Punjab clean, green and pollution free, appealed Kataria. He thanked Dr. Pirthipal Singh Trust, Ludhiana for providing saplings.
On this occasion a poster presentation activity was organized & students from various departments participated enthusiastically. Best poster titles were announced for Ms. Vanshita Mahajan, Ms Jyotika Ms. Jaswinder Kaur from BA. LLB. To mark this day special, staff & students planted Malabar Neem & fruit saplings. Faculty members including Ms Sneha Bhardwaj, Ms Saloni, Ms Sandeep were present.
