International Nurses Day Celebrated at Aryans Institute of Nursing

Aryans Institute of Nursing (AIN), Rajpura Near Chandigarh celebrated International Nursing Day under this year theme ” A Voice to Lead: A Vision for Future Healthcare “. Students and Staff of GNM, ANM & B. Sc. Nursing organized an oath ceremony on virtual platform focusing on the true value of nurses to the people of the world. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the function.
Dr. Kataria while interacting with students said that nurses are at the forefront of fighting epidemics and pandemics, providing high quality and respectful treatment and care. Like doctors and other healthcare workers, nurses are continuously providing high quality care often working without a break. Nurses are often the only health professionals that people see in a crisis situation.
Kataria added that the COVID-19 pandemic is a stark reminder of the vital role that nurses play. Without nurses and other health workers, we will not win the battle against such outbreaks. Further, the demand for these paramedical courses has increased post Covid as the increase in number of patient with variety of diseases, has paved the way for Nursing Professional to provide better quality to human health care, he said.
On this occasion Mrs. Vijay Lakshmi, Vice Principle, Aryans Institute of Nursing addressed, motivated the students & said that Nurses are the most trusted healthcare professionals as they are with patients throughout the continuum of life. Nursing occupies the largest bulk of the health care force but the biggest challenge posed by this profession is staff shortage not only in India but the developed nation including Canada, US & more.
Mrs. Neha Sharma, HoD, Aryans Institute of Nursing said that Nurses account for more than half of all the world’s health workers, yet there is an urgent shortage of nurses worldwide. She made the student to pledge to protect the patient, follow the medical principles & to pass their life in purity and to practice their profession faithfully.
Ms. Sanskriti Rana, Faculty, Aryans Group & moderator of the event said that this Day, amid the horrific coronavirus pandemic, assumes great significance. Nurses are the backbone of the hospitals and clinics taking care of the millions of COVID-19 patients for months putting their lives at risk. International Nurses Day is a great opportunity to express our deep gratitude for them, she told.
To mark this day more special, a poster presentation competition was organised & students participated enthusiastically. Raveena Kaundal, First year, B.Sc Nursing bagged first, Pinky, 1st year, GNM and Amanpreet Kaur 2nd year GNM bagged second & Third position respectively. Winners & all participants were honoured.
It is to be mention that International Nurses Day is observed on May 12 every year. On that day in 1820, Florence Nightingale also known as known as the Lady with the Lamp, was born. She was an English nurse, a social reformer and a statistician who founded the key pillars of modern nursing. The faculty members including Ms Himanshi, Mrs Sapna, Ms Alisha, Ms Kulvir, Ms kavita were present.

“Oral Dental Care during COVID-19”, a webinar held at Aryans

To aware students & faculty members about Good dental & oral hygiene during pandemic a webinar on “Oral Dental Care during Covid-19” was organized at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh. Dr. Swati Jhamb, Senior Faculty, Dr. HSJ Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital, Punjab University, Chandigarh interacted with faculty members and Aryans students of Engineering, Law, Management, Nursing, Pharmacy, B.Ed and Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.
Dr. Swaty while interacting said that Good dental or oral care is important to maintain healthy teeth, gums and tongue. Oral problems, including bad breath, dry mouth, canker or cold sores, tooth decay are all treatable with proper diagnosis and care, she added.
Swaty further said that many bacteria inside our mouth build up plaque which causes tooth decay and gingivitis & can lead to gum diseases. For a healthy smile, brushing after meals, using antimicrobial mouthwash, and flossing at least once per day helps us to keep our teeth healthy, she explained.
While answering the student’s questions she said healthy diet that minimize sugary and starchy foods also helps to keep those bad bacterial under control. She advised students to use the toothbrush of appropriate size & shape along with an antimicrobial toothpaste containing fluoride, which helps protect your teeth from decay.

To spread awareness about the rights of vulnerable sections of society, getting free Legal Aid and importance and procedure for filing RTI, Aryans College of Law organised a Legal Aid and Awareness camp at Village Nepra, Near Rajpura- Patiala Highway. This was an initiative to provide free Legal Aid to indigent persons as well as awaring them about safety guidelines issued by the Government amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The camp was organized under the leadership of Prof BS Sidhu, Director, Aryans Group.
Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group said that Students being a part of this programme were exposed to practical knowledge which is a must for budding lawyers. They assisted advocates during their interaction with the general public which helped them to analyze the case studies to develop a critical thinking about the subject matter. This platform gave them an opportunity to boost their confidence level, he added.
Ms Sanskriti Rana, Faculty, Aryans College of Law, spoke about Article 39A of the Constitution of India which provides for free Legal Aid to the poor and weaker sections of the society and ensures justice for all. The faculty members and students as volunteers detailed the targeted population about the importance and the procedure of filing an RTI application and the avenues of redressal.
The main objective of this Legal Aid and Awareness Camp was to aware the mass of their legal right to access information from defaulting authorities, making them well-versed with the procedure of filing an RTI & aware them of the benefits of filing an RTI.
Ms Daljinder, Faculty, Aryans Group was also present on this occasion. The students including Mr Sahil Walia, Mr Mridul Choudhary, Mr Amandeep Singh & Mr Lovish Bali participated as volunteers in this camp.

“T20 Avengers Cup” open cricket tournament launched by Punjab Secretariat Cricket Club & Aryans
With the objective of promoting sports and youth services in the state, the Punjab Secretariat Cricket Club (PSCC), in association with Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh organized “Avengers Cup”, T20 open Cricket tournament, Today, where around 16 teams from tricity would be participating.
In a brief program, Deputy Principal Secretary to the Hon’ble C M, Punjab & Chief Patron, PSCC, Mr. Gurinder Singh Sodhi was the Chief Guest while Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges was Guest of honour. In the opening ceremony, the official jersey of the club was released in the function by distinguished guests at Punjab Civil Secretariat. Later, in the closing ceremony, Dr. Kataria presented a memento to Mr. Sodhi.
While addressing the players, Sodhi said that besides working in the offices, the employees should also be aware of their health. Sports play a very important role in a person’s life and make a person healthy and optimistic. He said that he himself cycles 50-60 km per day which keeps him fit. He apprised the members, players & guest about the achievements of PSCC in previous years.
Kataria while motivating the players said that Aryans always look forward to spread educational services in the state as well as to encourage the youth towards sports & for Avengers Cup, the Group is a major contributor to the PSCC jersey. He assured the players and the team management that he would continue to be associated with the club in the future and strive for the better performance of the club from time to time.
On this occasion, president, PSCC & team captain, Mr. Bhupinder Singh said that his team has been practicing for a long time and many tournaments will be played with different teams in the coming days. The Treasurer and Coordinator, PSCC, Mr. Naveen Sharma, said that his team is able to compete with any professional team and is participating in the “Avengers Cup” starting from 3rd April. The team is in high spirits and will play to give good results. General Secretary, PSCC Mr. Neeraj Prabhakar, Press Secretary S. Gurpreet Singh and S. Gurveer Singh were also present on the occasion.

PAU Expert, Dr. Allah Rang addresses Aryans Agriculture Students
Webinar on Seed Production of Horticultural Crops held
Department of Agriculture, Aryans Degree College Rajpura, Near Chandigarh organized a webinar on “Seed Production of Horticultural crops”. Dr. Allah Rang, HOD (Retd.) Dept of Plant Breeding and Genetics Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana & presently Managing Director, Biocarve Seeds where he exporting large quantity of flower seeds to American and European countries since 2008. He interacted with faculty members & the students of B. Sc. & Diploma Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.
Dr. Rang while interacting with students said that the production of high-quality seed is fundamental to modern agriculture. Seeds can serve as the delivery system not only for improved genotypes but also for new planting and production methods and crop protection strategies that improve the overall efficiency of agriculture and reduce its environmental vagaries he explained.
He further said that the purity of any commercial product propagated by seed begins with the genetic purity of the seed planted. Genetic purity standards have been established by seed certification laws and state seed certification agencies to assure growers that the seed they buy is accurately labeled with the correct crop and variety. Seed purity standards also specify the percentage of contamination in seeds, he added.
He explained that seed producers take many steps to protect genetic integrity, including ensuring the integrity of their planting seed, properly identifying and labeling plants and fields, planting seeds on clean land. Removing undesirable plants and employing physical isolation via mesh cages, distance isolation, hand pollination to ensure that pollination only occurs among plants of the desired variety, he told.

To create awareness about vaccination for the corona pandemic among students & faculty members, a webinar on “COVID-19 Vaccination” was organized at Aryans College of Pharmacy. Dr. S. S. Pandav, chairman COVID-19 vaccination committee, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh interacted with faculty members & the students of B. Pharmacy & D. Pharmacy. The GNM & ANM students of Aryans Institute of Nursing also attended the session. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.
Dr. Pandav, while interacting with the students said that to stop the spread of COVID-19 in community, stay safe by taking some simple precautions, such as physical distancing, wearing a mask, keeping rooms well ventilated, avoiding crowds, cleaning your hands, and coughing into a bent elbow or tissue. Vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent disease and save lives, now more than ever, he said.
He further said that COVID-19 vaccines are going through a rigorous, multi-stage testing process, including large trials that involve tens of thousands of people. These trials, which include some groups at high risk for COVID-19 are specifically designed to identify any common side effects or other safety concerns. But, rumors are being spread about the efficacy of vaccines & it seems that people are hesitating to get inoculated, he mentioned.
While answering the student’s questions he further discussed that Vaccines reduce risks of getting a disease by working with your body’s natural defenses to build protection. When you get a vaccine, your immune system responds. The vaccine is therefore a safe and clever way to produce an immune response in the body, without causing illness. But it takes two to three weeks to get full immunity after one gets the second dose, he told.
Mr. Krishna Singla, Convener, of the event said that Vaccines are the technology that humanity has relied to bring down the death toll of infectious diseases. To bring this pandemic to an end, the world needs to be immune to this life threatening virus with a vaccine, he stressed.
