Course Details
The main courses in Pharmacy are the 2 years Diploma in Pharmacy(D.Pharma.) and 4 years Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharma.). B.Pharma. is a 4 years undergraduate course.After completing the course, graduates will obtain the ‘Bachelor of Pharmacy’ degree.After obtaining this degree, graduates may start practice as a Pharmacist in India as well as abroad.
Science stream students, from both Mathematics and Biology groups,are eligible to pursue B.Pharma course after completing 12th standard.Course duration is 4 years. The 4 years’ duration is divided into 8 semesters, with each semester lasting for a period of 6 months. In case of each semester, students will have to face one theoretical external examination (main exam).In case of some semesters, practical examinations will also be held, with the subjects being hospital pharmacy, clinical pharmacy and community pharmacy.
Science stream students (both Mathematics and Biology groups- PCM/B), who have passed 12th standard board examination from a recognized board are eligible to pursue this course.
For B.Pharma lateral entry, The candidates who have acquired a Diploma in Pharmacy with a minimum of 45% marks (40% in the case of SC/ST category) in aggregate of the examination from AICTE and PCI approved institutions may be allowed admission to second year of the course provided that Diploma holders in Pharmacy admitted directly to B.Pharm second year shall have to pass those subjects of B.Pharm first year which were not covered by them under D.Pharma course.
For D.Pharma. course, candidates required a Successful qualification of the 10+2 level of education in science stream, from a recognized educational Board. A minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) at the 10+2 level.
