Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Minorities (2026-27)
The Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, implemented by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, is dedicated to supporting students from notified minority communities—Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Zoroastrian (Parsi)—in pursuing higher education.
Objective:
To provide financial assistance to economically weaker students, promoting inclusive access to education and enhancing long-term employability.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Community: Must belong to one of the notified minority communities.
- Academic Merit: Minimum 50% marks (or equivalent grade) in the previous final examination.
- Income Limit: The total annual family income from all sources must not exceed ₹2.00 Lakh.
Eligible Courses
The scholarship covers a wide range of full-time programs (duration of 1 year or more) in India, including:
- Academic: Class XI & XII, Undergraduate (UG), and Postgraduate (PG) degrees.
- Technical/Professional: B.Tech, Polytechnic, ITI, Nursing (GNM/ANM), B.Sc. (Medical Technology/OTT/Cardiac Care), D.Pharma/B.Pharma, and AI/ML programs.
- Research: M.Phil and Ph.D. programs.

Scholarship Benefits
The scholarship includes both tuition reimbursement and a monthly maintenance allowance:

Funds are transferred directly to the student’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Important Guidelines for Applicants
- Application Portal: All applications must be submitted online via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at https://scholarships.gov.in/.
- Mandatory OTR: New applicants must complete the OTR (One Time Registration) process on the NSP portal before applying.
- Documentation:
- Income Certificate: Issued by a competent State/UT authority.
- Community Certificate: Self-certified (for students 18+) or verified by parents (for students under 18).
- Aadhaar: Must be linked to your bank account for DBT disbursement.
- Bank Account: Must be in the student’s name, active, and KYC-compliant.
- Non-Duplication: Students cannot avail benefits from more than one central government scholarship scheme simultaneously.
