
Free Covid Vaccination Camp held at Aryans

A free Covid-19 vaccination camp was organised today at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura Chandigarh in association with the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Punjab at Aryans Campus.
The vaccination camp was inaugurated by Dr. Kushal Deep Gill, Senior Medical Officer, Community Health Centre (CHC), Kalomajra & Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group. In this COVID-19 vaccination camp, 1st dose was administered to around 100 persons belonging to 18 & above age group including students, teaching & non teaching staff along with people from nearby region.
The camp was led by Dr. Gurmehar Singh, Medical Officer & Dr. Neha Puri, Ayurvedic Medical Officer. The Paramedical team including Ms Shailza, Community Health Worker; Ms Jaswinder Kaur, Multipurpose Health Worker; Ms Amandeep Kaur, Lab Technician, Manmohan Singh etc were also present in camp. Among students & staff members, along with vaccination, awareness on the rapid spread of the viral infection and the safety measures to be taken was also created.
Dr. Kataria while thanking Capt. Amrinder Singh, Chief Minister, Punjab & S. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab for providing free Covid vaccination said that the initiatives of the health department and the district administration are highly appreciated. It is now the social responsibility of every individual to reach at camps and help the administration in preventing the third wave of the pandemic, added Kataria.
Dr. Kushal Deep said the camp was held as per the guidelines issued by the Punjab Government. Every person above 18 years of age must get vaccinated as early as possible, he stressed.

Webinar on Combating Black Fungus disease held at Aryans

A webinar for Awareness on black fungus Symptoms, Precautions & Treatment held at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura Near Chandigarh. Dr. Deepika Sharma, DST Woman Scientist, Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), Chandigarh interacted with the Aryans students of Nursing, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Management, B. Ed and Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.
Dr. Sharma while interacting with students said that black fungus disease is caused by exposure to mucor mould commonly found in soil, plants, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables. It affects sinuses, brain and lungs and can be life-threatening in diabetic or severely immunocompromised individuals, such as cancer or HIV patients, said Sharma.

She further said that the symptoms include pain and redness around eyes and nose, fever, headache, coughing, shortness of breath, bloody vomits, and altered mental status. Vulnerable groups include people who have health problems or take medicines that lower the body’s ability to fight germs and sickness, she added.
While answering students questions she said that infection needs to be treated with prescribed antifungal medicine. In some cases, it can require surgery. It has mortality rate of 50% & is critical to Covid-19 patients. We should use masks, wear shoes, long-sleeved shirts and gloves while gardening. Maintain personal hygiene, she stressed.

Punjab Police, Patiala and Aryans celebrates International Day against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking

An awareness drive on Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking was organized today by Punjab Police, Patiala & Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh at Aryans Campus. DSP, Rajpura, S Gurvinder Singh was the Chief Guest on the session. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.
The event was organized as per directions issued by Sh. Dinkar Gupta, DGP, Punjab & Dr. Sandeep Garg, SSP, Patiala & keeping in view all the COVID -19 guidelines issued by Government. The event was attended by S. Gurpreet Singh, SHO, Sadar, Rajpura, S. Gurpartap Singh, SHO, City, Rajpura, S. Balvinder Singh, SHO, Banur, Mrs. Pushpa, Inspector, Traffic Police, Mrs Parminder Kaur, Project Director, Saket Hospital, Sh. Amrit Pal, Counselor, Saket Hospital. Prof. BS Sidhu, Director, Aryans Group, Dr. JK Saini, Director, Aryans College of Engineering, Dr. Garima Thakur, Deputy Director, Aryans Group, Mrs Manpreet Mann, Dean, Scholarship Department etc. were also present.
S. Gurvinder Singh addressed on various aspects including depression, peer pressure, unintentional dependency of medicines, lack of self- control etc and motivated them to spread awareness at their respective places. He said that Drug addiction is a serious problem amongst youngsters & controlling it is a major challenge. For any such effort to succeed, it is necessary to channelize the creative energy of the youngsters against the menace, he added.
Dr. Kataria highlighted several causes that are observed in the young generations who go towards drug addiction. He added that the drug demand reduction programmes should emphasize on not stigmatizing addicts, but rather trying to educate people, particularly school and college students. The students should take pledge not to be diverted by any wrong company and to always uphold the esteem of their faith and their family, stressed Kataria.
It is to be mentioned that the day is celebrated internationally on 26th June & theme for this year is “Share Facts on Drugs, Save Lives”. As per the reports about 850,000 Indians inject drugs, 1.3% of children between 10 and 17 years reported to consume alcohol. The day aims at combating misinformation and promotes sharing the facts on drugs from health risks and solutions to tackle the world drug problem, to evidence-based prevention, treatment, and care.

International Yoga Day celebrated at Aryans

To explain manifold benefits of Yoga, a virtual workshop was held at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh on International Yoga Day. Sh. Girish Munjal, Yoga Instructor, Art of Living & Sh. Vidya Sagar, Yoga Therapist, Gold Medalist interacted with faculty members & the students of Engineering, Law, Management, Nursing, Pharmacy, B.Ed and Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.
Sh. Munjal while interacting with students said that Yoga is an ancient practice, originated 5,000 years ago in India. Yoga is a way to interconnect the mind, body and soul. It plays a crucial role in promoting health by improving physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health & to fight stress, depression and anxiety, added Munjal.
Sh. Vidya Sagar said that Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with you. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being, he added.
It is to be mentioned that, in 2014, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for the day to be adopted. During the workshop, various Yoga Asanas including Padmasanas, Halaasana, Sukhasan, Naukasana, Vrikshasana, Tadasana, Bhujangasana etc. were taught to the students which can keep their inner strength strong to fight against this health crisis in this stressful pandemic situation.

Webinar on Immunity Enhancement through Ayurveda during Pandemic held at Aryans
During pandemic, to aware students about immunity enhancement through Ayurvedic Regimen a webinar was organized by Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh. Dr. Rita Behl, Senior Diet & Lifestyle Consultant, Founder, Ayurvedic Avataran, Mohali interacted with the Aryans students of Nursing, Pharmacy, Law, Engineering, Management, B.Ed and Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.
Dr. Behl while interacting with students said that Ayurveda blends our modern lifestyle with the ancient wisdom of using natural substances, medicines and herbs to help us lead a healthy, happy, stress-free and disease-free life. This discipline is unique amongst the healthcare disciplines in the World as it places an emphasis on removing the causes of disease and suffering, she discussed.
She further said that Ayurveda accounts for a complete harmony of the human body with the elements of nature for a stress free and healthy life. It treats root causes of disease, not just symptoms. Ayurveda takes into account the complete ecosystem of a person’s life including tastes, scents, sounds, touch, sights and uses the qualities in foods, herbs, and lifestyle as medicine, added Behl.
While answering students’ questions she told that science uses a combination of nutrition, lifestyle habits, herbs, body therapies, spiritual counseling, among other therapies to heal each unique individual on a deeper level. Knowledge of Ayurveda enables one to understand how to create this balance of body, mind and consciousness according to one’s own individual constitution and how to make lifestyle changes to bring about and maintain this balance, she stressed.
