
Patiala Forest Department celebrates 71st Forest Festival “Van mahotsav” at Aryans
Considering many fold benefits of trees & to celebrate 71st Van Mahotsav Day, a tree plantation drive was organized at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh under the initiative of Punjab Government. Over 400 saplings of fruits & medicinal plants were provided by the Forest and Wildlife Protection Department, Patiala & were also planted during this Drive at Aryans Campus. Ms. Vidya Sagari, IFS, District Forest Officer inaugurated the drive. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided on the occasion.
Ms. Vidya Sagari while speaking on the occasion said that trees are very important for our life. We cannot even imagine our life without trees. They not only provide us oxygen, but also provide food to eat. Trees play an important role in keeping our environment safe, so we all have an obligation to understand the importance of trees and we should plant more trees.
She further said that the under the initiative of State Government, Forest Department is working to make Patiala clean and green and urged everyone to plant trees on vacant land. She further added that if any school, college, panchayat and NGOs need help for plantation, then the department will definitely help them in conducting tree plantation drives, she added.
Dr. Anshu Kataria while speaking said that trees not only give us shade and fruit but also make the surroundings and premises beautiful. Kataria also mentioned about the environmental problems caused by the deforestation. He appealed everyone to actively participate in tree plantation drives so that Punjab can be made clean, green and pollution free, he added.
On this occasion S. Gurvinder Singh, Range Officer, Sh. Rakesh Kumar, S. Gurdeep Sing; Field Officer , S. Gagandeep Singh, S. Jaspreet Singh; Beat Officers, District Forest Department, Rajpura were present. Prof. BS Sidhu, Director, Aryans Group, Dr. J. K. Kumar while interacting said that the agriculture is backbone of rural economy. Agriculture in India has made significant growth and we are on the path of second green revolution through modern agricultural technology. For sustainable agriculture, a good quality seed is the most basic and essential input. Agriculture in India is backed by a strong seed improvement programme involving both the public and private sectors and is well recognized internationally, explained Kumar.
He further added that seeds play a fundamental role in meeting the triple challenge of improving food security and nutrition, supporting the livelihoods of farmers and rural communities, and contributing to sustainable resource use and climate change adaptation and mitigation. The seed sector directly influences three dimensions of food security and nutrition: food availability, access, and stability, he told.
While answering students questions he explained that The seed sector contributes to food security and nutrition through productivity growth, improved resilience and quality improvement, allowing a greater availability of nutritious food at lower prices. Greater percentage of improvement in agricultural production has come from the use of improved seeds, but seeds of new varieties must be made available to the farmers in adequate quantity and quality and at affordable prices, and on time, stressed Kumar.

Dr. Prasanta Das, Principal, Aryans College of Pharmacy elaborated the post Covid Career Opportunities & interacted with faculty members & the students of B. Pharmacy &D. Pharmacy of Aryans Pharmacy College and Aryans College of Pharmacy. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.
While interacting with the budding pharma professional, Dr Das said that Pharmacists play a significant role in healthcare management.Pharmacy Graduates can cater to the needs of various departments in the industry such as production, quality control, etc but in the new age pharma Industry, they need to acquire management skills in addition to core technical knowledge, explained Dr. Das.
Das further elaborated that Pharmacy Graduates have an excellent opportunity in various testing laboratories of the Government which conduct proper testing of pharmaceuticals including newly proposed vaccines or therapies. Be it new drug research, new drug approvals, vaccine research, antibodies research, community-based services, dispensing of medicines, pharmacists are playing a key role in fighting this pandemic, he said.
While answering students queries he said that. Career opportunities are always increasing in the profession of pharmacy. This pandemic has highlighted the services provided by pharmacists in various areas including Drug research and development, clinical trials, pharmacovigilance, retail sector, hospitals, clinics, community pharmacy, pharmaceutical sales and marketing, and medical writing too, he said.

Jovial Festival “Teej” celebrated at Aryans
The ‘jovial’ festival of ‘Teej’ was today celebrated with fervour and gaiety at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh. Female staff of Aryans participated in various colourful activities on this women oriented occasion.
The staff made rangoli, recited ‘Bolian’ and performed ‘Giddha’ to welcome the ‘Savan’, the rainy month, with which the festival is associated. Women wearing colourful attires broke into dances on the beats of the Punjabi music.
Director General, Aryans Group, Dr. Parveen Kataria talking about the significance of the Teej festival quotes “by participating in such traditional festivals we stay connected to our rich cultures. She appreciated the efforts of the girls and said the celebration of festivals is a way of reviving and keeping alive the traditions and customs which are vanishing these days.

A Webinar on “Importance of Agriculture for Upliftment of Rural Society” organised at Aryans
A webinar on “Role of Agriculture Extension for upliftment of Rural Society” was organised by Department of Agriculture, Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura Near Chandigarh. Dr. Rushikesh, Scientist, Agriculture Extension Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) addressed Aryans Agriculture students including B.Sc. Hons. & Diploma Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the Webinar.
Dr. Rushikesh while interacting with students said that Extension programs in rural communities play a critical role in linking farmers and other actors in rural developmental agenda. The relevance of these programs in agriculture is largely dependent on their ability to meet farmers’ needs since they are the stakeholders at the grassroots.
While answering students questions he said that the rural extension programs can provide a sustainable solution to poverty. The appropriate approaches should be chosen taking into account the needs of the farmers and market dynamics of a particular area, explained Rushikesh.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group said that the extension education aims at changing the outlook of the farming community to improve the farm operations on farmer’s initiative. Educating farmers by extension education is sustained process to keep pace with rapidly changing agricultural technology.
