To explain manifold benefits of Yoga, a virtual workshop was held at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh on International Yoga Day. Sh. Girish Munjal, Yoga Instructor, Art of Living & Sh. Vidya Sagar, Yoga Therapist, Gold Medalist interacted with faculty members & the students of Engineering, Law, Management, Nursing, Pharmacy, B.Ed and Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the event.
Sh. Munjal while interacting with students said that Yoga is an ancient practice, originated 5,000 years ago in India. Yoga is a way to interconnect the mind, body and soul. It plays a crucial role in promoting health by improving physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health & to fight stress, depression and anxiety, added Munjal.
Sh. Vidya Sagar said that Yoga embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with you. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being, he added.
It is to be mentioned that, in 2014, the United Nations declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for the day to be adopted. During the workshop, various Yoga Asanas including Padmasanas, Halaasana, Sukhasan, Naukasana, Vrikshasana, Tadasana, Bhujangasana etc. were taught to the students which can keep their inner strength strong to fight against this health crisis in this stressful pandemic situation.
