With the aim to aware students about the need for stringent cyber laws, Aryans College of Law, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh organized a webinar on Cyber Laws for Emerging Technologies. Mrs. Manu Rampal, Professor, Aryans College of Law interacted with the Aryans students of Law, Engineering, Management, Nursing, Pharmacy, B.Ed and Agriculture. Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.
Mrs Rampal while interacting with students said that the Cyber crimes are currently ruling major newspaper headlines globally, causing unanticipated damages across industries and individuals. The predominant forms of cyber thefts include – data breach, identity theft, financial theft, and internet time thefts, she explained.
Rampal further told that in India, cyber laws are contained in the Information Technology Act, 2000. The purpose of the Act is to provide legal recognition to electronic commerce and to facilitate filing of electronic records with the Government, she added.
While explaining all the acts & answering the students questions she told that though cyber security is advancing but, hackers are also finding ways to break it. This reinforces the need not only for better security systems but robust cyber laws as well. Further, cyber law makers need to be abreast of the potential loopholes in the cyber security and fix them in real-time, she stressed.
